Achievements by Iran’s parliamentary delegation to Mexico

TEHRAN, Dec. 07 (MNA) – Chairman of Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission outlined the achievements of the Iranian parliamentary delegation to Mexico.

On the sidelines of Majlis open session on Sunday, Alaeddin Boroujerdi described the achievements of Iran's parliamentary delegation to Mexico and said the visit was set up by the official invitation of Mexican Senate's Foreign Relations Committee head who had visited Iran twice during the last year.

Iranian MP went on to say that during the trip, in addition to cultural, trade and economic ties, parliamentary cooperation topics were also discussed between the two sides along with an MoU signed for relations in different areas.

Boroujerdi outlined that Iran and Mexico faced some problems in their fight against drug trafficking and during the meeting the two sides discussed their experiences in confronting drug abuse.

During the visit, both sides agreed to allocate 50 percent of scholarships to students to learn Persian and Spanish. “Due to Iran’s capabilities in the field of organ transplantation,” Boroujerdi said “Mexican authorities have expressed their interest in learning and gaining experience in the relevant field which we are preparing to discuss with the Minister of Health.”

He added that some political developments, including the nuclear issue and its future prospects as well as developments in the region, especially terrorism, were among issues discussed during the visit to Mexico.

Boroujerdi said that at the meeting the two sides blamed formation of Takfiri terrorist groups mostly on the United States adding that these groups had now become a serious problem and Western countries were looking for a new coalition to deal with them.

He said both sides acknowledged the US-led anti-ISIL coalition has failed to reach its objectives, however, Iran has gained many successes on its aid policy toward the states directly involved in fight agaist ISIL goals.

Boroujerdi said avoidance of double taxation to help facilitate trade and economic relations between the two countries are among other themes agreed upon by the two countries.
